Welcome to the BlogSite of the Media, Film, Music and Spirit: Religion and Popular Culture, an exciting course developed in the Studies in Religion and Spirituality discipline in the School of History, Philosophy, Religion and Classics at The University of Queensland.
The aim of the course is to investigate the interconnectedness between media and religion and to seek out aspects of religion and spirituality in forms of media production and delivery - from news and ideology, to representation of religious and cultural groups, to analysis of dimensions of religion and spirituality in pop music, hiphop and alternative genres, and finally to film and television and the generation of religious and spiritual ideas and movements in popular movies and mainline television shows.
Here students and staff in the course post their thoughts on the relationship of religion to media, and on mediated religion. We hope you enjoy your travels in our blogsite.
