Comments on Movie: How To Train Your Dragon 2 (2014)
"The plot doesn't matter in the slightest; young and old fans of the first movie will be lining up for the wit, for the inventiveness of the characters, for the breathtaking visuals — and just the sheer fun of it all." - Moira MacDonald, The Seattle Times.
"The story of a Viking teenager Hiccup who befriends the titular creature Toothless and manages to convince his village that they are friend not foe was not only a rare unadulterated crowd-pleaser, it also packed some genuine emotional heft with its bittersweet ending." - Gabriel Chong, MovieXclusive.
"Although there are times when bits of the movie feel extraneous, the production as a whole comes across more like an organic extension of the original tale than something tacked on purely to score at the box office." - James Berardinelli, Reelviews.
"It retains the joyful and playful tone of the first one, but it is less wildly exhilarating. However, it is still a tight and energetic work that will delight the kids, and possibly, their parents." - Eternality Tan, filmnomenon.
"There are all sorts of cuddly, playful dragons in this film. The animation is stunning, the plot is admirable but sad to say that there is not much authentic dragon actions and it is not emotional enough." - Rosalyn Lim.

How To Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) at a glance
How To Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) is a 3D animated feature loosely based on the British book series of the same name by Cressida Cowell where it sets in a fictional viking world filled with dragons. This is the first animated feature that I reviewed write about and post within its first week of worldwide release! Spare me though, I haven't watch the first one so I can't compare it with the original one; mentioned in one of my previous post before that 2010 isn't a great year for me and that, is the reason I missed most films that period BUT I can tell you whether it's worth to watch; and the answer is YES, you should watch it!
How To Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) Synopsis
It's been five years since Hiccup and Toothless successfully united dragons and vikings on the island of Berk. While Astrid, Snotlout and the rest of the gang are challenging each other to dragon races (the island's new favorite contact sport), the now inseparable pair journey through the skies, charting unmapped territories and exploring new worlds. When one of their adventures leads to the discovery of a secret ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace. Now, Hiccup and Toothless must unite to stand up for what they believe while recognizing that only together do they have the power to change the future of both men and dragons.
Movie Review: How To Train Your Dragon 2 (2014)
Hiccup and Toothless.
For a legendary creature lover like me, it's pretty easy to love How To Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) because there are all sorts of cuddly, playful dragons in this film. There are also plenty of distinctive characters, mostly adorable and hilarious in their own ways so the film is generally fun to watch!
My favorite dragon in this film, an alpha dragon.
The animation is stunning, the plot is admirable but sad to say that there is not much authentic dragon actions (the dragons are being controlled most of the time) and it is not emotional enough. Perhaps they did not intend to make people to get emotional and tear but I really feel that deaths should, at least be given more elements or screen time to it ... I don't enjoy the fact one of the dragons that I am fond of just die (quite easily too) and be gone forever. </3
Nonetheless, it is a great 3D animated film and for a second I thought I started to develop acrophobia by watching this film! This film also make me want a companion dragon, so bad :< Even told my girl friends "I wish that I have a dragon" as we walk out of the theatre. T-T

Movie Ratings
Will write a page regarding this and add this to all animated feature entries in the future.
Dragon (especially modern Western-styled dragon) lovers!! While I don't regard Dragons as animals or pets since they are majestic, legendary creatures, people who are fond of animals and pets would also love this film because the dragons depicted in this film are so endearing!
PS. This film is directed by the co-creator of Disney's Lilo & Stitch!

How To Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) Behind the Scenes
Favorite Movie Character
A mother never forgets.
Valka, the long lost mother of Hiccup and wife of Stoick, is my favorite character from this film because she has saved numerous dragons throughout her life as well as being loved by them dragons! From the film, we can tell that she is genuinely kind-hearted, altruistic and independent; has lived in the Dragon Sanctuary for 20 years to safeguard the dragons, leaving behind her beloved family for their sake. Isn't it self-less and admirable?
If dragons are real and needed protection, I'd probably follow her path and live with dragons!
(Given that they would allow a weak human girl like me befriend them lol)
