Comments on Movie: Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984)
"Nausicaä, princess of the Valley of the Wind, is a screen heroine--or, rather, hero--for the ages." - Michael Dequina, TheMovieReport.com.
"It's not only an amazing piece of animation, but an incredible work of science-fiction as well." - John Gholson, Cinematical.
"Nausicaä is in some ways a grim and serious film, but it mixes a sweet optimism into its horror-filled lessons." - Tasha Robinson, AV Club.
"Nausicaä isn't the best of Miyazaki's movies, but that's like saying that Godfather III isn't the best of the Godfather trilogy. It still deserves a place on any short list of all-time classic anime movies." - Theron Martin, Anime News Network.
"A film that represents many things; an ecological allegory on humankind and their relationship with nature; an examination of humanity's ignorance in resolving disputes through destructive means; or simply an adventurous tale filled with harrowing rescues, dashing battles, and gigantic monsters — the thematic quality that Miyazaki offers here is very rich." - Miguel Douglas, iSugoi.
"Studio Ghibli brought the standard for anime films to another level with this film and it deserves a lot of respect. Certainly one of the best adventure films I have ever watched." - Rosalyn Lim.

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984) Movie Quotes
One of the touching scenes.
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984) is otherworldly. Yes, that's the word that I find myself writing repeatedly on a paper when I am reviewing this for my blog. Out of this world, sophisticated; this film I am watching is not something ordinary. I tried to watch this film from 80s perspective because it may not be fair to judge or compare it with recent films. Not like I know how exactly people in the 80s would feel and react to it but there is not much flaws that I could criticise and I actually found out that this film is truly artistic, it is still able captivate its audience until today.
What is more, Studio Ghibli brought the standard for anime films to another level with this film and it deserves a lot of respect. This film is also quite beautiful for a 1980s animated film and it has strong harmony and ecological concern message. Certainly, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984) is one of the best adventure films I have ever watched! It is lovely, enriching and I am fascinated with its characters, world creations and gigantic insects! If it has a chance to be reproduced and remake in a larger scale, I think it can be as epic as Lord of the Rings series!

I must confess, I truly adore Princess Nausicaä. She is a super genuine character; she is kind, caring, altruistic towards everyone and loved by many. She could also tame the ohms, connect with the nature spiritually and she also gave her life to save the valley!
Different from the typical princess image, she actually has excellence swordsmanship and knows how to fly a glider! And as been mentioned at Rotten Tomotaoes, Nausicaä is more concerned with harmony and communication than with conquest and revenge. Therefore, she really is benevolent and a peacemaker.
This list is not complete yet and are some of what I've heard from watching the English version entitled Warriors of the Wind. ><
- It's so beautiful. Hard to believe that these spores can kill me.
- My heart's pounding. What is going on?
- You're just a little scared, aren't you?
- You need to return to your jungle, understand?
- You're strong, you can fly.
- We gathered these for you.
- Oh my, there are so many. You must have worked very hard.
- Thank you, I'll think of you when I eat them.
- Have I broken a promise to you?
- Why does everything that is good for you tastes so bad?
- What is the origin of the jungle? You sure spent a lot of time thinking of strange things.
- The trees of the toxic jungle must have evolved to purify the earth and all the pollution that we humans has made.
- The insects has involved to guard this place.
- That proves extinction for the human race. It will take centuries for these trees to purify the Earth. We can't survive and exist that long.
- I am not going to hurt you, don't be frightened. I am not your enemy.
- I am so sorry, if there any way you can forgive us, how we treated you so badly.
- Don't move, you'll bleed to death!
- Children, look carefully. Tell me what these blind eyes of an old woman cannot see.
- After a thousand years, he'll clad in blue and surrounded in the field of gold.
