Overview [US]: Nisekoi: False Love - Volume 2 (Blu-ray)
Friday, August 5, 2016
Surprise! I made a deal with a fellow forum member to get the first two volumes of Nisekoi Season 1's Aniplex version. It was a good head-start to try and catch up with these sets. Here's the second volume.
Since I've gotten these used, I'll be placing them under the Overview banner of my blogposts (the format is still the same however).
Nisekoi is one of SHAFT's recent works and is adapted from a well-known Shonen Jump manga series which actually just ended recently. The first season of the anime adaptation aired during the Winter 2014 season and lasted 20 episodes. Aniplex of America picked up the license and I managed to watch the series through Animax UK (which isn't the best way to watch anime mind you) as they snatched the UK rights thanks to Kaze UK. Aniplex have the show on Crunchyroll for other English zones.
Anywho the show was one of the first to be given the volume treatment from Aniplex of America. Basically it follows a similar pattern to how Japan handles their anime distribution but with the US version it's less volumes but the price is still steep. Nisekoi was given four volumes with five episodes each (basically a quarter of the count).
The second volume contains the next five episodes (episodes six to ten to be exact) in Japanese with English subtitles only. Like all Aniplex sets, the discs are region free and the subtitles are unlockable. The packaging is very flimsy, similar to how the Monogatari arcs were handled. Inside the cardboard box is a Blu-ray case with a single disc, a couple collectable ending cards and a small poster.
For those who own the Kaze version, your release only has End Cards 6 & 9 from this set.

Plot Synopsis (via Aniplex):
Raku and Chitoge continue bickering, which does not help the situation, as their relationship status is already under scrutiny by Ruri and Kosaki. But when Chitoge confesses to them that their relationship is actually fake, Kosaki decides that she will let Raku know how she feels about him.
Then one day Seishiro, a beautiful girl dressed like a boy, transfers to their school. She is actually a hitman hired by Claude to expose Raku and Chitoge! Although Raku is her enemy, when she comes in contact with Raku's kind nature, Seishiro is confronted with a new emotion that leaves her totally confused.
Meanwhile, Chitoge finds her diary from 10 years ago and remembers the promise she made with a certain boy.
As their feelings sway, the group sets out to the open-air school where they can expect unforgettable experiences with the hot springs and even the test of courage!
