Everyone talks about the famous Izumo Taisha in Shimane Prefecture. It sounds like there is only one interesting spot to see and visit here. But it is WRONG!! There are many other interesting things you can see and do in Shimane Prefecture, especially in Izumo city!



01. Love Taxi (ご縁タクシー)


There are only a few "Love Taxi" in town, so we are very lucky to see one today!! By the way, the fare is the same as the normal taxi, don't worry!

The license plate number is very special indeed. That's because the pronunciation in Japanese means "Good Matchmaking"!!!

02. Old Taisha Station (旧大社駅)

This station was in service from 1912 to 1900. It was the main transportation for people coming to Izumo Taisha Shrine.  The station that you can see today was renovated in 1924.


Just from the interior design, you can see what a traditional train station is like in Japan.

03. Izumo Taisha-mae Station (出雲大社前駅)

If you come to visit Izumo Taisha by train, you will get off at this station.

04. Inasanohama Beach (稲佐の浜)

On the west side of Izumo Taisha (about 1 km away), there is a great place to see the ocean and sunset!

Here, you can see a big rock on the beach, and there is a small torii gate on the rock. It is a shrine of the god protecting the ocean.


Actually this is the last stop of our trip, we are very lucky to see the beautiful sunset here!!

01. Limited Starbucks coffee mugs

Just in front of Izumo Taisha, you can find these specially designed coffee mugs at Starbucks. With the love theme, these mugs can be put on top of each other. What's more? Each mug is painted by hands, so all the mugs have different patterns!

02a. Gods' Salt (神迎の塩)


The salt is made from the sea water of Inasanohama Beach. It is said that the salt can keep you away from bad luck.

There are 6 different packages that you can choose (purple, peach, yellow, lime, grey and green colors).

Famous buckwheat noodles shop - KIZUKI

This is highly recommended by the locals. Their daily made buckwheat noodles are their signature dish.


The way to eat this buckwheat noodles is very special indeed. Usually, you put the noodles into the sauce and eat it. Here, you pour the sauce into the first bowl, then pour the sauce left into the second bowl when you finish the first one. Then do the same to the third bowl. A really unique way to eat the noodles.
