Unboxing [US]: Steins;Gate - Complete Series: Anime Classics (BD/DVD)

Back in the end of June I acquired a few titles thanks to an Amazon deal of the day sale. The third title from the lot is a re-release from the Mad Scientist and his Tuturu companion now part of Anime Classics from Funimation.

Steins;Gate is a 2011 anime adaptation based on the visual novel of the same name from 5pb. and Nitroplus. The anime adaptation was handled by studio White Fox and published by Kadokawa Pictures. Steins;Gate is one of the best recommended anime titles out there and while it had a slow start it gets going very well mid-way. I've already seen this show compared to the tons of blind purchases I've done but I do recommend this show a lot, especially if you don't want to spend 40-50 hours on the visual novel (I have played the visual novel, it's really good as well).

This release from Funimation is the Anime Classics edition. The Anime Classics line is basically a special cover on the slipcover and spine which matches for each show but will annoy collector's who want a clean spine.

Both formats contain the entire 24 episode series and the OVA across 4 Blu-ray & 4 DVDs. The Blu-ray & DVD discs are the same as the previous release i.e Regions A and 1 NTSC only. The subtitles are unlockable and the audio options are English & Japanese with English subtitles.

Plot Synopsis (via Funimation):
The microwave is a time machine. Okarin proved it. The self-anointed mad scientist nuked bananas into some gelatinous version of the future. Or maybe it was the past. Doesn't matter. No one thought he could do it, but he did it anyway. He sent text messages through time to people he knew. To his friends. Some of them female. Pretty. He should have been more careful. He should have stopped. Tampering with the time-space continuum attracts unwelcome attention.

Clandestine organizations of nefarious origins take notice. SERN. Always watching. Okarin knows; he can feel their eyes. That's why he started the top secret Future Gadget Lab. To stop them. You should join. We get to wear lab coats, and it's dangerous. Danger is exciting because it's deadly. The microwave is a time machine.
