Want big breasts? We try the Japanese optical illusion shirt that gives anyone a large bust
One woman and five men with different physiques show how much your breasts can grow with just one T-shirt.
It wasn’t long ago when we first heard about the Illusion Grid T-shirt from Japanese fashion company ekoD Works, which uses some neat visual trickery to create the illusion of a busty chest.
Since then, the garment has been tested by celebrity cosplayer Inagasaki Sakura, which inspired our team of Japanese-language reporters to get on board with the trend by conducting their very own experiment in the office, with both female and male staff members trying the shirt on for size.
▼ As you can see, the T-shirt uses implied perspective to make less-than ample bosoms appear large.
First one up to try the T-shirt was Momo Momomura, who said she was “thrilled to finally have the big breasts of my dreams”. While she was happy to admire her chest in the privacy of the office, Momo was quick to admit that she wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing the shirt outside because it would make her feel like a fraud. After all, if she did find a lover while wearing the shirt, the truth would eventually be revealed once her top came off in the boudoir.
Interested to see how the garment would look on a man’s body, Momo took the bust-enhancing shirt over to our male Japanese-language reporters to see how it would alter their flat chests. Ahiruneko was first to step up to the plate, with his body type most closely representing an ordinary, common Japanese male physique.
▼ Strangely, Ahiruneko’s “breasts” ended up looking square-shaped when he wore the shirt.
Next up was Yoshio, who, with his medium build and medium height, has what Momo endearingly calls a “dad bod”. According to Momo, the shirt actually looked hot on him, enhancing his sex appeal immediately.
Then it was time for two of our most buff reporters to try the shirt on, pulling it over their muscular frames with ease and strutting around to gauge everyone’s opinion. Go (below left) actually did a set of push-ups before wearing the shirt, to make sure he was in top shape for his photo. P.K., on the other hand, was confident that the shirt would look good on him, happy to receive the extra chest enhancement.
▼ According to Momo, the shirt worked well to enhance their pecs, but did nothing for their sex appeal. Sorry, guys!
Finally, it was time for the shirt to be worn by one of the slimmest members of the team, Kawarano, who’s also known for having the flattest chest in the office. Unable to gain weight no matter what he eats, Kawarano is the envy of his female colleagues, and when he tried the shirt on, they all squealed with cries of jealousy again, saying that the look suited him perfectly.
▼ Momo went so far as to say that if you looked only at his chest, you’d swear it was the bust of a well-endowed woman.
At the end of the experiment, Momo had her clear favourites for the staff member who wore it best.
