English Vinglish (Indian, Hindi)

This is not a romantic movie, but if you are a woman, or a girl, you will surely love this movie.
(Even males will like the film, I didn't say that they won't ok. But I think females will like this film more coz it tells their everyday life story).
The film is written and directed by female director Gauri Shinde. And as everyone says only a woman can understand a woman, the director has captured the life of a house-wife really beautifully. Some of the people who saw this movie told me that they felt like crying at times when they saw it. When I saw I felt, maybe I make my parents feel this way too, even when my parents an educated working persons. I felt a bit guilty.
So it's a film by which half audience can see their life reflected up on. And the other half is made feel bad about themselves for behaving badly to their moms, or dads, just because they are not 'so called', up to their standards and make them feel embarrassed.
The film was also a comeback film for the old actress Sridevi. She has done a good job in the film. I actually didn't like her in her old films. But in this film she has genuinely did a good job.
The film is directed really well, and has shades of things that makes it a light watch and enjoyable at the same time as touching. It is fun to watch, and entertaining But there is no usual masala Boywood mix in it. (I kind of tend to get angry if I see the usual masala crap. But only those kind of films release a lot in India.)
A refreshing change to the usual masala films. Also a refreshing change to the usual male oriented films. This film is 100% female oriented.
Story line : Shashi is a home-maker. Her husband Satish is a baker, her two kids Sapna and Sagar, go to school. They all know English very well, and always talks in it, and makes fun of Sashi because she is week in English.Shashi who was a normal Indian village girl, don't know English well. She wonders what is the big deal it that? What is wrong in knowing just her own language, Hindi? But as everyone else in India thinks, her kids and husband also thinks that English is an essentiality and also that the people who don't know English need not be respected that much.
She doesn't get much respect in her house, though she is loved. Even her hobby of making laddoo(an indian sweet) is mocked my her family.
That is when her sister who lives in the USA, calls her to help her with wedding preparations of her eldest daughter. Shashi have to go to USA.
One day accidently she gets insulted again by a Cafe counter woman, for not knowing English. That event traumatize her. She then stumbles up on language program which promises to teach student to speak English in 4 weeks. The duration of her stay in US is 4 weeks. Shashi decides to learn English. But she hides this from her sister and her daughters.
In the class she gets a lot of friends. Also the co-student Laurent, a French cook seems to like her.
The story is quiet simple. It is just the process of a person who doesn't knows English learns English. But it's told in a beautiful and lovable, and enjoyable way.
You all will surely love this Movie.
