Plan for the Day : Go to Macau and visit famous place in Macau such as Senato Square, Ruins of St Paul, etc
How to go Macau from HK : Pier at Sheung Wan and Tsim Sha Tsui sell the ferry ticket to Macau. Trip will take about 1 hour. Sheung Wan Pier is within walking distance from the MRT
The night before is more quiet. No gangster fighting. Anyway I pack the luggage and check out from the hotel early in the morning. Even though the hotel included breakfast but I never had one meal here.
The boat ride is quite stable. Don't feel the seasick. A surprise thing to see that the boat itself have free WIFI.
Outside of the pier, there is a list of free shuttle bus that you can take to more famous and large hotel, such as Venetian Casino, Starworld etc. The hotel I am staying is not in the list. But taxi is easily available here.
The hotel room is not ready when I check in the hotel. I leave my luggage with the concierge and go to nearby 官也街 Ruo do Cunha. This street is famous for good food and souvenir for tourist.
Yes, just reach Macau and I start to look for things to eat. XD
The day is still early, most shop just begin to operate.
First stop is a Macau cafe. Must try the Portuguese Egg Tart and Macau Pork Chop Burger.
The egg tart, sure taste better than the one I had in Hong Kong.
Next is Crab Porridge. This shop is quite famous and is recommended by many Hong Kong celebrity too.
After so much of good food, I decided to walk to nearby Starworld casino and Venetian. Both casino is very impressive and big. But not much photo taken here.
Back at my hotel and finally get to see my room. It looks like a mini villa or a studio. My only complain is the bath tub is so big that filling it up with water took almost 30 minutes. Beside this the room is fantastic.
I need to take a taxi so from Taipa to reach most tourist spot at Macau. Due to heavy traffic, the taxi refuse to actually stop at the St Paul Ruins and ask me to get out nearby and walk on my own.
Oh well.... I guess everywhere taxi is the same.
First stop is the Senato square. I almost can't recognize the place even though it has appear so many times in various different movie and tv drama.
I don't know what is the name of this building. But can see it is historic portugese design. So it should be old. Probably a hundred years old.
Inside need to be real quiet because can see some local people is having their prayer session.
After I come back, I found an article in the net, it say next to this statue near the St Paul ruins, that is a famous "Lover Lane". Hmm... not for me.
The front of the famous St Paul ruins. Almost a must visit place if you come to Macau. If you never check in here, you haven't visited Macau yet.
Many people told me the ruins is really just the front entrance still standing. From the back, you can't see a building or a church. I climb up the stair just to take this photo.
Next stop is another meal at a macau cafe. Steam egg desert this time. I really eat a lot in this trip...
The famous Lisboa casino. The casino really transform Macau from some small town to a major tourist spot it is today. Since casino and gambling is prohibited in China, millions of chinese flocking to Macau to gamble every year. And with the China economy going stronger, the number continue to grow.
The original Lisboa casino is getting old. Thus a newer casino is build right next to it. The design of the building looks very weird but I heard that there is some feng shui behind it. It is like many sword pierce right thru the center of the casino. Into the heart of gambler. So that they die losing all the money in the casino. I wonder if it is true.
Nearby here, there is a few more big casino such as Wynn.
Back to Ruo do Cunha for my dinner. The starbuck here looks very cute.
This is a famous portugese restaurant at Macau. But some find the food so so. Some feel it is good.
I heard a customer ask the waitress to recommend the nice food here, and the waitress comment is "I can't recommend for you because the food I find tasty might not suit your taste". I don't know I should say she is very honest or rude.
A cup of special red wine cocktail here and grilled beef rib steak. The steak feel dried but kind of good. I guess the waitress is right. Coz normally there will be some sauce to go with the steak but here it is quite plain. Can only say the portugese style food does not suit my taste bud.
Return to my room and enjoy the beautiful night scenery from my room.
And some Portugese egg tart as midnight supper.
