Pom Pom Purin Cafe (in Osaka)

I mentioned my trip to Osaka/Kyoto in the last post. Now, I didn't have time to do any sightseeing, but I did manage to eat at the Pom Pom Purin cafe! Luckily for me and my cousin, it was really close to Umeda Station (right next to Osaka station), so poor, starving me could eat immediately.

The shop exterior
When I entered, I was immediately greeted by this fellow:

Oddly enough, I found this shop while searching for places to eat at Osaka Station/Umeda Station that were below 2000 yen. This was definitely below 2000, but only if you ordered only one thing. My cousin and I both ordered two things per person, and it came to about 2300 yen per person.

Anyway, the interior:

I even managed to sneakily take a photo of the dude seating a few seats down:

Oh, and it was the 20th anniversary, so they had these special placemats that we could take home. Obviously, if I was going to take them home, I wouldn't eat on them, which kind of defeated the purpose of having mats, but....

I wanted a souvenir. So, mat-less

My dinner - beef stroganoff. Can someone well-versed in the culinary arts please tell me, what is the difference between beef stew and beef stroganoff? The Japanese versions of both (plus the sauce for hayashi rice) taste pretty much alike to me

And my cousin got Taco rice, which is not octopus rice, but rice that's meant to taste like a taco (it's Japan, it's an easy mistake, ok?)

And apparently, the first thing you have to do is to smoosh the rice into the ingredients. I guess that's how they get over the "too cute to eat" factor.

My cousin also ordered this pudding shake, which turned out to be pudding mixed with milk.

And I got... some kinda character special thing for dessert. I liked the pudding, I liked the fruits, I liked the cake, but there was a bit too much cream for me. Or maybe I was finally feeling full.

Compared to the last character cafe we went (the Cinnamoroll pop up cafe), the food tasted heaps better. I guess permanent stores have to at least taste decent, or they won't last long :p So, no regrets going here for dinner!
