Fan Chan/My Girl (Thai)

A film that takes you to your childhood days without giving you any other choice, and before giving you any warning. It just lifts you up and leaves you in those beautiful memories of childhood.

The English name of the film is 'My Girl', which is a literal translation of the Thai name 'Fan Chan'. The film features a lot of old Thai pop sings which brings this film alive in more that one way. Even if you are not thai, and din't knew a heck about Pop music, you are going to love the usage of those music in this film.

This is not a love story, or romantic film. It is basically about friendship, also about the innocence of childhood. There is not much plot or a big story in the film. But what is there is told so beautifully that it just sweeps you away, and leaves you back in school with your friends, when you were 8 year old or ten. (I keep repeating my sentence, right? Because it do take you to your childhood.)

And I can say with all my heart that if you miss this film, it is such a waste.

Story synopsis : Young man Jaeb was on the way to his college friend's wedding when he gets a call from his mother. She tell him about another wedding, and he decides he have to go to that wedding. Because it the wedding of Noi-nah. The rest is a flash back.
9 year old Jaeb's best friend was a girl, Noi-nah. Their father's were rivals, because they both were barbers and their shops were side by side. But their mothers were friends. And since Jaeb was not allowed to ride his bike till the market and it's premises because he'd then have to cross the main road, he couldn't be friends with any boys. On this side of the main road, there were only girls of his age. And hence he would always have to play with Noi-nah and her girl friends. Their plays are usually, pretending to be 'home' or the jumping across an elastic rope.
But then, there is the group of boys in their school, who live on the other side of the main road, on the side of market. Their plays are, 'rubber band jump hoop', pretending 'martial arts film', 'football' etc.
Jaeb want to play with the boys. But he is not welcome to the boys' group. Jaeb can't find fun with girls either.

Then, the boys start to make fun of Jaeb and Noi-nah saying they are a couple. Jeab starts to feel uncomfortable about his friendship with Noi-nah. His desire to join the boys' group increases.
He temporary gets friendly with the boys' group on a football match, but then fights and breaks up with them when they make fun of his and Noi-nah's friendship  And to rejoin the group, the boys ask him to do something that would hurt Noi-nah...

Each game in this film is so nostalgic. No matter if you are a boy or a girl, you can relate to the friendship in this film. And the friendship side is so touching that it even can bring a smile and tear at the same time.

The execution of the film is speechlessly beautiful.
I just loved, simply just loved this movie.

My ratings of this Movie :1000/10 (Sorry, love this that much.)
