Goon Wah XO Fish Head Noodle has slowly gain their fame and becoming more crowded recent years. Many blogger has blog about them but most don't know how this place begin.
Many years ago, the boss operate the canteen for the nearby Sri Sentosa Secondary School and school bus service too. Then they fail to renew the canteen operation contract and has to move out. And so they open a "kopi tiam" at the shop lot opposite of the school. In the begin, it is just a small chinese "kopi tiam" that sells some local delicacy.
The other noodle stall that serve breakfast in the past has closed the stall. I even recognize one of the waitress there is the previous Kon Lou Mian Stall owner.
Anyway enough of the background history of the shop. For people interested to have meal here. Please take note. The shop only open on Monday till Friday 9am till 3pm. They close at night and weekend. So for most office worker, you can visit the shop on public holiday. They don't always close on all public holiday as with most old style chinese man shop. The shop open on holiday such as Thaipusam.
The shop is famous for their XO Fish Head Noodle. It is very different from typical fish head noodle. You won't find it full of milky taste. Instead it is more clearer and tastier soup. The fish used also different from others. It is tastier, and less small bone. A big plus for me as I don't like the small bone in the fish.
Beside the XO Fish Head Noodle, you can try, Claypot Rat Noodle, Guiness Stout Chicken Wing(*Sinful), Yu Tou Kou Rou/Yam Pork(*Very Sinful), Fried Pork Intestines, Jiang Nan Noodle, Sour Plum Lime Juice, Braised Lamb, Fried Thai Tofu.
(Note : Most people just try the food photo that is shown at the wall, but you really should ask the boss to introduce their dish. Look for a guy that wear spectacle and short white hair. )
